Binapani Mahato: Folk Treasures from Eastern India:
Binapani is one of the very few classically tranied jhumur singers 'folk' singers of the Rarh region in Easter India. Jhumur songs and dances express the loves, hopes, and political and social aspirations of a people who have been thoroughly neglected in the past. Having researched jhumur songs and the Chhau rhythms of the region for many years, her performances reflect the historical, social, and spiritual environment of the local people of Jharkhand.
